Where are you going?

Amidst our fast-paced environment, have you really stopped to think: Where am I going? What are my goals in life? What are my priorities?

As fundamental as it is, these questions are hardly pondered upon by most people today. The UNIV 2011 Theme “Living Freedom Decisively” is a very timely reminder to help us think about our everyday decisions in life.

Admittedly, a thorough thinker herself, Ms. Vanessa Valdez, will help us consider these points through her talk about Living Freedom Decisively. She will discuss how, she, in her work as a script writer for movies such as A Love Story, Miss You Like Crazy, and One More Chance, have tried to use her freedom well by injecting values in the stories she create.

Learn more about her work and how you yourself can start making better decisions by attending the UNIV 2011 Launch in Tanglaw University Center on August 28, 2010 from 10:30 AM-12:15 PM.

For inquiries, call Calai Clariño at 0917-840-3833 or email her at clarino.macarmela@gmail.com.

Interested to teach? Think about it…

Hey hey hey! The Tanglaw Catechism Club will have it’s first catechism seminar workshop on Saturday, August 21, Saturday, from 9am to 5:30pm. Registration fee is Php50.

Ms. Lorie Anda, PhilSci teacher will give a talk about “Why Teach Catechism” and Ms. Zyra Lentija will give a lecture on how to adapt to your student’s learning styles.

Be a catechist now!

“My thoughts turn next to the ever increasing number of children and young people born and brought up in non- Christian or at least non- practising home but who wish to know the Christian faith. They must be ensured a catechesis attuned to them, so that they will be able to grow more and more, in spite of the lack of support or even the opposition they meet in their surroundings”.

- Pope John Paul II, Catechesis in our Time no.42

The journey to Madrid has begun and falling in love is the start of that journey.

With a successful Orientation for Participants & Parents last July 31, 2010, we are ready to embark on the journey that will end in Madrid next August 16-21, 2011. Preparations include attending WYD Catechesis classes, teaching Catechism or going on Visits to the Poor/Sick, learning to pray and falling in love with God through Meditations, Benedictions and Recollections, and attending Enriching Talks on Culture. All of these activities are held in Tanglaw every Saturday.

WYD Catechesis every 1st Saturday at 10am.

WYD Monthy lunch & get-together every 3rd Saturday at 12nn.

Cultural get-togethers (ETC) every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 1:30pm.

Catechism on 2nd Saturdays at 10am. (UP Catechism on 2nd & 4th Fridays at 7pm).

Meditation & Benediction every 1st, 2nd, 4th Saturday at 3:30pm.

Recollections every 3rd Saturday at 2:30pm.

“What kind of love are we talking about? Sacred Scripture uses the Latin word dilectio, to make us understand clearly that it does not simply mean the feeling of affection. It signifies, rather, a firm determination on the part of the will. Dilectio comes from electio, choice. I would add that, for Christians, loving means ‘wanting to love’, making up one’s mind in Christ to work for the good of souls, without discrimination of any kind; trying to obtain for them, before any other good, the greatest good of all, that of knowing Christ and falling in love with him.” (Friends of God, “Strength of Love” 231)
