“At the start, the hype of writing a paper for UNIV came from the group’s desire to go to Rome to attend the UNIV International Congress. Little did we know, our journey towards our goal turned out to be equally important as that of our destination. The whole process of interviewing the blind, who have a lot to offer to society, and writing the paper made us see life from a different perspective and appreciate the true meaning of beauty, one that goes beyond what is physical. But most of all, through this experience, we were able to see the beauty in all things even in difficult moments – and also in devastating events – that come as part of life”

Keynote speaker Ms. Chichi Robles will also share her reflections on the theme.

Attend the UNIV 2012 Launch in Tanglaw on July 23 featuring the topic “Pulchrum: The Power of Beauty” with guest speaker Dr. Lani Junio, Chair of the Department of Philosophy in UA&P. Registration starts at 10:00 AM. Admission is Free.

UNIV Congress Philippines Final Paper Presentation, featuring student research studies on Living Freedom Decisively, with a keynote address by famed editorial cartoonist Jess Abrera of the Philippine Daily Inquirer on February 5, Saturday, 9:00 am to 12 nn.

Where are you going?

Amidst our fast-paced environment, have you really stopped to think: Where am I going? What are my goals in life? What are my priorities?

As fundamental as it is, these questions are hardly pondered upon by most people today. The UNIV 2011 Theme “Living Freedom Decisively” is a very timely reminder to help us think about our everyday decisions in life.

Admittedly, a thorough thinker herself, Ms. Vanessa Valdez, will help us consider these points through her talk about Living Freedom Decisively. She will discuss how, she, in her work as a script writer for movies such as A Love Story, Miss You Like Crazy, and One More Chance, have tried to use her freedom well by injecting values in the stories she create.

UNIV is a research congress on current issues affecting human development wherein university students can play a decisive role. UNIV involves research work, conferences, lectures and round table discussions on a chosen theme. Its culminating event is the UNIV Philippines Final Congress. Selected participants also have a chance to be invited to the UNIV Seminar in Rome, Italy together with other university students from 60 different countries.
